Nancy Belck has four decades of experience on seven campuses--serving as faculty member, department head, director; and twice each as dean, provost/vice chancellor for academic affairs and chancellor. A specialist in strategic and long-range program planning, Dr. Belck has consulted with over 40 universities and professional organizations during the past decade. She has been involved extensively in hiring senior level administrators at many universities, and understands the importance of identifying proactive campus leaders, who can prioritize for excellence and understand the importance of shared governance.

Her most recent position was President of the Institute for Study Abroad, working with 350 U.S. universities to place and oversee their students in about 100 universities in 15 countries abroad. Dr. Belck also served as Chancellor, University of Nebraska-Omaha and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville for more than a dozen years.

Dr. Belck’s international experience includes working with universities around the world in: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Egypt, England, Estonia, Finland, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Romania, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales.

She has participated on numerous community service boards, as well as nationally in professional organizations. She was President, Coalition of Urban Metropolitan Universities; prior chair of the NASULGC Commission on the Urban Agenda and the AASCU Urban/Metropolitan Commission; and served on the NCAA Presidents Council.

Her community and corporate involvements have been varied: Boards of Directors for the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, President of the Leadership Council of Southwestern Illinois, St. Louis Symphony, Opera Omaha, Wells Fargo Advisory Board, Urban League, National Conference for Community and Justice, Boy Scouts of America Mid America Council, Salvation Army Advisory Board, and the Scott Air Force Base Commander Consultation Committee and the STRATCON Consultation Committee, and Rotary International, Paul Harris Fellow.

Her degrees include a Bachelor of Science in secondary teacher education, summa cum laude, from Louisiana Tech University, and an Master of Science in textile science at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her Ph.D. is from Michigan State University in family ecology and communication. She has received outstanding alumni awards from all three institutions.
