Ron Stead brings over thirty years of experience in college and university executive recruitment to AGB Search.  Following his administrative career at three institutions, he joined the Presidential Search Consultation Service in 1979 and served as Executive Director until 1988 when he and other colleagues formed Academic Search, which became a leading search firm.  During his long tenure in higher education recruitment he has assisted approximately two hundred college and university searches – both public and independent - for presidents, chancellors, provosts, and other senior level administrators.

During his career as a search consultant, Dr. Stead has made numerous presentations related to executive search to various national and regional organizations such as the American Council on Education, the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities, the Association of American Colleges and Universities, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.  He also has authored several articles on the subject of executive recruitment and leadership in higher education.

His last administrative post was at Franklin and Marshall College where he served as associate dean of the college and dean of students.  While at F&M, he was elected president of the Pennsylvania Association of Student Personnel Administrators.  He previously served as dean of men at Ohio Wesleyan University and as an assistant to the vice president for student affairs at Michigan State University.

He is a trustee of Widener University where he chairs the Trusteeship Committee.

Dr. Stead holds three degrees from Michigan State and attended the Harvard Institute for Educational Management.
