Gerald Whittington, MBA, joined AGB Search in 2022. His career in higher education has spanned 50 years, including most recently, as Special Assistant to the President of Elon University, where he previously served as Senior Vice President Emeritus and Associate Professor. He has also served as Elon University’s Senior Vice President for Business, Finance and Technology and as Corporate Treasurer of the Board of Trustees and Corporation. Prior to Elon University, he served as Vice President for Business at Agnes Scott College and in the administrations of the University of Virginia, Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Mr. Whittington, a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACUBO), is the recipient of the 2018 NACUBO Distinguished Business Officer Award and serves as a finance and administration evaluator for SACUBO.
During his distinguished tenure at Elon University, his units and colleagues in business, finance and technology were recognized both regionally and nationally by leading professional associations and the US Department of Education as exemplars of excellence with many significant awards in purchasing, human resources, auxiliary services, physical plant, architecture and design, technology, and sustainability; the university itself was designated as a “best value” institution by Kiplinger, Forbes and the Fiske Guide.
Mr. Whittington, a national speaker and consultant on the topics of higher education finance, institutional planning and construction, holds an MBA from Duke University and an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
