Northern Michigan University seeks an outstanding leader to serve as its next Assistant Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion.
With new NMU President Dr. Brock Tessman on board, the search for the Assistant Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion is a priority for building out the university’s leadership team. The new AVP will join NMU at an exciting time. Northern Michigan University is located on the ancestral homelands of the Anishinaabe, Three Fires Confederacy, an honored alliance of the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Bodewadmik (Potowatomi) peoples.
This is a critical position at an important juncture for NMU. The AVP/D&I will be the university’s lead diversity officer, reporting to the Vice President of People, Culture, and WellBeing, as well as serving on the President’s Executive Council. They will work in concert with others in this division to make NMU an even more diverse, supportive place to learn and work.
NMU features a strong faculty recognized for teaching and research excellence, as well as many new, modernized facilities, solid enrollment, and a strong budgetary foundation. NMU also has an academic reputation as a leading institution of higher education and scholarship, ensuring excellence and innovation for its 7,000 students across the institution’s more than 194-degree programs, including 36 graduate programs.
