Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Vice President – Enrollment Management.  This is a new position. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the AVP-EM oversees the newly combined offices of Admissions, Registrar and Financial Aid. JCSU was founded in 1867. We are an independent historically Black university located in Charlotte, N.C. that continues to gain a national reputation for integrating the liberal arts with business, the sciences and technology in innovative, socially conscious ways to empower tomorrow’s diverse entrepreneurial citizens and leaders.

JCSU seeks an accomplished, collaborative, innovative and entrepreneurial leader who will serve as the chief enrollment officer of the university, while partnering with the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs to implement a progressive and evolving strategy for recruiting and retaining students. The AVP-EM must possess the experience, skills and drive required to lead the future of enrollment services, while exemplifying the character and qualities expected in a highly visible and trusted university leader. It is expected that the new AVP-EM will develop and implement a coordinated approach to recruitment and retention that has a positive impact on enrollment growth. The AVP-EM will be a highly motivated, energetic leader who is able to inspire staff and collegially collaborate with faculty and administrative leadership. While it is not necessary that the next AVP-EM have managerial experience in all areas reporting to him/her, it is expected that the candidate will have leadership experience in at least one of the primary areas: Admissions, Registrar or Financial Aid. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices is highly desired.
