Position Details

AGB Search is pleased to be assisting Des Moines University (DMU), a well-established graduate health science university, in its search for the Chairperson of Family and Internal Medicine.    DMU is located in Iowa’s vibrant and growing capital city of Des Moines.  Founded in 1898 as the Dr. S. S. Still College of Osteopathy, the University enrolls more than 1,700 students in three colleges:  College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, and the College of Health Sciences. DMU exceeds all osteopathic and allopathic medical schools as the nation’s top producer of family medicine physicians.

The Chairperson is responsible for executing functions related to the administrative, educational, and clinical aspects of managing the Department of Family and Internal Medicine. Candidates must have a D.O. with certification by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice or the American Board of Family Medicine. In addition, five years of clinical experience and three years of experience teaching medical students and/or residents is required.  Further, candidates must possess valid state and federal narcotics licenses or be eligible to gain licensure. Candidates must also hold a license to practice medicine in the State of Iowa or to be eligible to gain such a license.
