The University seeks a new Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics who will be an innovative and visionary academic leader.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding advocate for the school, with both internal and external stakeholders, as well as an exceptional communicator in all forms, while incorporating an appropriate emphasis on face-to-face interaction. The University is seeking an experienced and successful college professor who possesses a strong record of scholarship and is committed to progressively responsible administrative and academic leadership.
Claflin University is known for its rich legacy of STEM graduates. Many professional and graduate schools often recruit Claflin graduates for enrollment. Several of the School’s alumni are employed at Fortune 500 companies in Silicon Valley and in investment banking.
Qualifications include: An earned doctorate in one of the disciplines in the School, and experiences and accomplishments sufficient to merit appointment to the rank of Professor, with appropriate academic and administration experiences, including: budgeting, faculty recruitment, professional development, performance evaluation, and strategic plan development. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, academic administrators, and members of the University Community, as well as students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, helping them become successful scientists and scholars.
