The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University seeks an accomplished scholar and strategic leader as the inaugural Director of the School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks (SMSN). SMSN, the newest school in the Fulton Schools of Engineering, is located on ASU’s expansive Polytechnic campus, a nexus for studies in interdisciplinary sciences, engineering, management, technology and education. SMSM will combine and focus research, academic programs, faculty expertise and industry partnership to address the next-generation challenges that will define the future of manufacturing and focus on topics including modeling, automation, sensing, advanced manufacturing processes, robotics, human-machine teaming, job design, machine learning, and optimization among others.

Reporting to the Dean of the Fulton Schools of Engineering, the Director will be the academic and administrative leader of SMSN, responsible for visioning, strategic planning, operations, finance, academic affairs, external relations and advancement. The school director will have the unique opportunity to design and build elements of the new school that include focused faculty hiring, academic program design, partnership connections and a new building planned for the Poly campus that will be home to the school.
