At a time of tremendous opportunity, energy and excitement, St. Joseph’s College, New York (SJC) is accepting applications for the Executive Dean of the Long Island, NY campus.  

Appointed by President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D., and reporting to new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Robert Riley, Ph.D., the Executive Dean Long Island will work in close collaboration with the Executive Dean Brooklyn as they partner to provide leadership for academic programs and the academic life on their respective campuses. The successful candidate will oversee the Assistant/Associate Deans, Department Chairs and the deeply committed and engaged faculty on the Long Island campus. The Executive Dean will also work in concert with Student Affairs to ensure SJC is deliberate in its integration of curricular and co-curricular experiences and position the College to promote its local, regional and national reputation.

The Executive Dean will be enlivened by SJC’s Mission, have an outstanding teaching record and scholarship, and an appropriate terminal degree commensurate with appointment at the rank of professor with tenure in an SJC academic unit. A successful track record of administration and leadership (to include a minimum of six years’ experience as department chair or higher at an accredited institution), an understanding of shared governance, excellent communication skills and the ability to engage in national conversations regarding 21st Century higher education issues is also required. Experience should include academic program review and accreditation, faculty recruiting and development, and budgeting. Being an approachable, visible, ethical and humble individual with emotional intelligence and an uncompromising work ethic are also essential qualifications.
