Arizona State University’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (Fulton Schools) is conducting a targeted search for tenured professors in advanced manufacturing for its new School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks (MSN).

Candidates will have specific expertise in one or more areas of emerging manufacturing processes, computational modeling, cyber-physical systems, optimization, simulation and high-performance computing in the context of manufacturing. It is expected that the appointed faculty will significantly enhance ASU’s visibility and impact in advanced manufacturing through partnerships with industry, grant funding and development of academic programs that train the next generation of leaders in advanced manufacturing. They also will have the opportunity to play a significant leadership role in Arizona’s New Economy Initiative through ASU’s Advanced Manufacturing Science and Technology Center, which will connect faculty and students with industry partners to foster enhanced improving translational outcomes from research, current and future workforce training, and entrepreneurship.

Located on ASU’s Polytechnic campus, the School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks emphasizes research, academic programs, faculty expertise and industry partnership to address the next-generation challenges that will define the future of manufacturing. Specifically, the school is building expertise around the following four themes:

  1. Advanced Manufacturing Processes;
  2. Cyber-manufacturing;
  3. Robotics and Automation; and  
  4. Digital Factories. 

The school’s research portfolio will be inherently multidisciplinary, collaborative and inclusive, consistent with the current and future states of advanced manufacturing that will prepare students to be leaders and our faculty to define the paradigms dominating future manufacturing technologies. MSN is a key element of ASU’s major expansion of the Fulton Schools to position it as one of the top 15 engineering schools in the U.S.
