Ohio University (OHIO), a national public R1 research university, invites applications and nominations for the position of President.

Established in 1804 as the first University in the Northwest Territory, OHIO has a long tradition of excellence, including nationally recognized programs in communications, healthcare, the fine arts, business, the sciences, and more. In addition to its residential campus in Athens, which has consistently been recognized as one of America’s best and most scenic college towns, OHIO operates five regional campuses in rural communities across south and east Ohio with a focus on access and affordability as well as extension campuses in Dublin and Cleveland that are part of OHIO’s Heritage College of Medicine three-campus footprint and home to graduate-level professional programs. OHIO extends select programs to students across the country through OHIO Online.

The 23rd President of Ohio University will be a transparent and collaborative leader who instills confidence and builds trust by articulating clear vision and priorities. They will be deeply committed to supporting teaching and learning, which is at the center of OHIO’s mission, and will foster innovation across the enterprise with a focus on continually enhancing the student experience and student success.

Nominations and Applications

Applications and nominations should be submitted by the target date of January 17, 2023. All candidate names will remain confidential, except for those individuals invited to campus interviews.

Application materials (MS Word or PDF format) must include:

1. A letter of interest that specifically addresses the position qualifications and expectations described in the Presidential Leadership Profile;
2. A curriculum vitae; and
3. A list of five professional references with the candidate’s relationship to each referee, as well as telephone numbers and email addresses for future contact. References will not be contacted without prior permission granted by the candidate.
