Saint Mary’s College of California (Saint Mary’s), a Catholic, selective, comprehensive university located on a stunningly beautiful campus just 23 miles east of San Francisco, seeks its 30th President. The next President of Saint Mary’s will be a practicing Catholic who demonstrates a genuine desire for a deep commitment to Lasallian, Catholic and liberal arts education. The President will model servant leadership reflective of the charism of the Lasallian Brothers and the Catholic intellectual tradition and be able to enthusiastically communicate both within and outside of the Saint Mary’s community. Financial acumen, a terminal degree, distinction as an institutional leader, a record of progressive responsibility and experience working successfully with budgets comparable in size and complexity to that of Saint Mary’s are also required. The next President will possess an astute understanding of the challenges facing 21st-century Catholic higher education and be an inspiring, collaborative and visionary leader. Personal characteristics of emotional intelligence, integrity, humility, diplomacy, transparency, an uncompromising work ethic, and the courage to make critical decisions are also essential.
