Elon University invites applications, nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. As the chief academic officer, the provost and vice president for academic affairs provides intellectual leadership for all academic departments and multi-disciplinary programs, student life departments, their faculty and staff, and budgets. The provost and vice president for academic affairs works collaboratively across all parts of the institution to promote academic excellence and achieve the goals of the Boldly Elon strategic plan for 2030. The provost reports to the president and serves on the university’s Senior Staff leadership team.
Elon seeks a proven, successful leader with a deep understanding of and familiarity with higher education; significant administrative and budget capabilities and accomplishments; a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship and service; and an earned doctoral degree and qualifications for tenure at the rank of full professor in one of the university’s departments. Candidates should have a collaborative and transparent approach to leadership, the ability to recognize and encourage innovation, an established track record of designing and executing high-level initiatives in a shared governance environment, passion for the mission of the university, recognition of the power of residential campuses driven by relationships as fundamental to teaching and learning, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the relationship-building and communication skills to connect with Elon University’s constituents.
