Position Details

Gonzaga University, a Jesuit, Catholic and humanistic institution of higher learning located in Spokane, Washington, invites nominations and applications for the Vice President of Administration (VPA) position. Gonzaga, a private institution of nearly 8,000 students, offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. This is a unique opportunity for a proven administrative executive to partner with President Thayne McCulloh, D. Phil. and move the University to its next level of institutional excellence.

The VPA will report directly to the President and work collaboratively with a cohesive, dynamic, mission-driven and forward moving senior leadership team who are dedicated to advancing GU’s Strategic Plan’s Four Commitments and securing its designation as a nationally recognized, premier liberal arts-based University. With an attention to Mission and commitment to continuous improvement, the VPA will provide crucial administrative perspective and leadership to internal support operations including: Human Resources, Plant and Construction Services, Hemmingson Center and Auxiliary Services (including Sodexo and Follett), and the Office of Sustainability. Other duties include leading the strategic plan goal assessment process, policy development, working collaboratively with regents, faculty and staff and serving as liaison to Board of Trustee committees.

In addition, the VPA will build trust and be a committed partner with the President, will be an innovative problem-solver, an approachable and transparent leader, an effective team/bridge builder, a proven long-term planner, an experienced manager, an advocate for HR’s roles and responsibilities, and will have a keen understanding of effective plant, construction and facilities management. The VPA will also be an excellent communicator, enthusiastic, adaptable, and an ethical person with creative energy, a strong work ethic, integrity, humility, and a sense of humor.
