The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), a thriving Carnegie High Research Activity institution in one of the South’s culturally rich and economically robust cities, seeks the institution’s next Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The university invites applications and nominations from experienced and highly qualified leaders who are committed to fostering and developing inclusive communities where all can thrive and succeed.

UAH seeks a visionary, action-oriented leader who is excited about and energized by the history and mission of the institution and understands the importance of an equitable and inclusive campus culture and climate and the distinctive interests of multiple constituencies of UAH. The Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion serves as the senior executive responsible for providing an integrated campus-wide vision for all major diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts to enhance the mission of the university and its strategic planning goals. . The Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion facilitates the implementation of that vision and supports institutional accountability.

The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a relevant field.  The successful candidate will also have a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible expertise in a diversity, equity, and inclusion program, to include a minimum of one year of leadership experience, preferably in an academic setting.

Located in the Tennessee Valley amid the rolling foothills of the Appalachians, the culturally diverse, welcoming Huntsville community is recognized nationally for a strong economy and high levels of educational attainment. Huntsville, the largest metropolitan area in Alabama, has been named one of the best places to live in the US, as well as the most affordable.
