Ohio Northern University (ONU) announces the search for a new Vice President for Financial Affairs (VPFA). The Vice President will lead the Business and Finance division and serve on the President’s Cabinet. The VPFA will oversee a University budget of approximately $92M and an endowment portfolio of approximately $160M and will join the dynamic leadership team of ONU’s President, Dr. Daniel A. DiBiasio, at an exciting moment of new expectations and progress at ONU.
Founded in 1871, ONU consistently has reflected founder Henry Solomon Lehr’s vision of providing a “community of learning, rich with opportunities for intellectual and personal development.” With an enrollment of more than 3,000 students from 34 states and 22 countries, ONU offers more than 60 programs of study in arts and sciences, business, engineering, law and pharmacy.
The beautiful, 342‐acre residential campus is made up of more than 60 modern residences and academic buildings including the recently completed James Lehr Kennedy Engineering Building. More than $100 million in capital projects over the last several years have helped maintain the beauty and functionality of the campus. The University is located in Ada, Ohio within easy reach of Columbus, Dayton and Toledo.
As this new era in ONU’s history unfolds, the Vice President for Financial Affairs will be expected to provide strong leadership as the University addresses the challenges and opportunities that will result in financial stability driven by strong academic programs for an increasing student population. In addition to managing the finances of the University the VPFA will be expected to support the other members of the Leadership Team, faculty and students by working closely with the management of enrollment, advancement efforts and the academic leadership to provide appropriate finances.
Among other characteristics, the successful candidate will have extensive experience in financial administration and management. Although individuals with experience in higher education will be given preference, other candidates will be considered. The candidate will have a strong record of strategic financial planning, leadership in the management of an endowment, facilities planning, risk management, debt management and budgeting. A person who understands and practices collaborative decision making with an ability to communicate to all constituents is essential. Preference will be given to those with CPA certification and advanced degrees.

The Ohio Northern Search Committee will be evaluating applications in January 2020. Although applications will be accepted until the time that a new VPFA is selected, candidates should submit their materials by January 31, 2020 for the most favorable consideration. The new VPFA will begin work no later than July 1, 2020.
