Matthew J. Kilcoyne

Matt Kilcoyne joined AGB Search as a Principal in 2023. Having served in a variety of roles for a boutique higher education executive search firm for the previous 22 years, Matt has successfully completed more than 300 search assignments over the course of his career. Of those searches, approximately one-half have been for presidents and the other half for vice presidents across all functional areas and academic deans. Matt brings expertise in governing board and search committee best practices; institutional needs analysis and marketing; candidate identification, recruitment, assessment, and selection; and transition and on-boarding services.

Experience and Honors

Mr. Kilcoyne has had the opportunity to speak or present to a number of higher education professional organizations, including the American Council of Education’s Fellows program and Advancing to the Presidency workshop, the Council of Independent Colleges’ Presidents Institute, the American Association of State College & Universities’ Communications Conference for Senior Professionals, and the Association of Catholic College & Universities’ Aspiring Presidents and Chief Academic Officers conferences.

Matt is a member of the Board of Directors of the Come to Believe Foundation (CTB), which assists higher education institutions in developing and launching a two-year college model that provides a pathway for underserved students to receive four-year degrees. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for Theatre Delta, which uses interactive theater to promote dialogue and social change in communities globally. He is Alumni Class Chair for both Gonzaga College High School and Georgetown University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree.
