Monica Burton

A career executive search professional, Ms. Burton has spent more than 20 years placing leaders in executive roles. She has worked across industry sectors from investment banking to nonprofit. In addition to leading president/CEO searches, she has placed HR, Finance, and IT leaders in a myriad of industries. Early in her career, she discovered that working with mission-driven organizations was where she connected most. In 2011, she made the conscious decision to work only with mission-driven organizations, primarily colleges and universities.

Ms. Burton's clients appreciate her dedication and astute ability in identifying, assessing, and recruiting the right talent for their organizations. Recent experience includes leading engagements for large public systems including the University of California, University of Colorado, and the University of Illinois, as well as for private and faith-based institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, Stanford University, The Anti-Defamation League, and Trinity Church Wall Street. Her experience in higher education search spans presidential, academic, and business officer leadership roles.

Throughout her career, Ms. Burton has watched leaders flourish and fail. She decided that becoming an executive coach would benefit her clients and the industry. Monica holds a certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership and is certified in the Predictive Index assessment tool. She stands ready to partner with you in discovering the leadership aptitudes you might not know exist within you and in helping draw them out through one-on-one leadership coaching sessions. In these sessions you will explore your motivations, your leadership capacity, and your growth edge.

An avid supporter of the arts, Ms. Burton was an early board member and served as board treasurer of Keigwin + Company, a critically acclaimed, NYC modern dance troupe, while supporting individual artists in their creative pursuits. She is a member of the Advisory Board for GLUE, an early stage, peer-to-peer, dance education initiative

In addition to her coaching credential, Ms. Burton holds a bachelor’s degree in French and Government from Georgetown University, and she studied comparative foreign policy in Paris at L'Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris.
