Mr. Troy Cogburn is the new Vice President for Admissions and Marketing at Manhattanville College. Mr. Cogburn was the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at Marymount University and, before that, the Director of Transfer Admissions for Manhattan College and the Associate Director of Transfer Admissions for Marymount Manhattan College. He is a member of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities Advisory Group and former President of the New York State Transfer and Articulation Association.

The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has named Andriel Dees to serve as the vice chancellor for equity and inclusion. Dees is an experienced executive with a highly collaborative and thoughtful leadership style and a focus on developing, implementing and executing equity, diversity and inclusion strategies, goals, and objectives. Since 2020, she has served Minnesota State as the interim system diversity officer, serving as the primary advisor to the chancellor on issues of equity and inclusion and providing guidance and oversight for the system’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan. In this capacity, her responsibilities included advancing Equity 2030, a systemwide vision to close all educational equity gaps at every Minnesota State college and university by the year 2030. California State University Chancellor Joseph I. Castro has announced the appointment of Sylvia A. Alva as Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs of the California State University. Dr. Alva joins the CSU Chancellor's Office and Chancellor Castro's executive team from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where she currently serves as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Alva is a first-generation college graduate and a product of the CSU, having earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. She earned a master's and Ph.D., both in psychology, from the University of California, Los Angeles. Read more.

The California Institute of Integral Studies has selected S. Brock Blomberg, Ph.D., as its sixth President. He will begin serving on September 1. Before arriving at CIIS, Dr. Blomberg was President of Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, and Dean of the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, CA, where he also served as the Peter K. Barker Professor of Economics and the George R. Roberts Fellow. Earlier, Dr. Blomberg worked as faculty at Wellesley College, and was a visiting scholar at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Dr. Blomberg is an internationally known political economist, scholar, and author, with deep roots in national and global economic policy. He served as a senior economist for the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and was the U.S. Representative to the Economic Committee for Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation. He holds a BS in Economics, with honors, from the University of Tampa, and received his MA and PhD in Economics from Johns Hopkins University. Read more here.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham has appointed Dr. Milena Stanislavova as the new Chair of the Mathematics Department. Dr. Stanislavova will join UAB from University of Kansas where she is a Professor of Mathematics. She was Director of Graduate Studies in the Mathematics Department from 2012-2017. She is currently Chair of the Economics Department at KU. Professor Stanislavova received her M.S. in Mathematics from Sofia University in Bulgaria in 1993 and her PhD from the University of Missouri in 2000. She was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts before joining KU as Assistant Professor in 2002. Her major fields of study are Dynamical Systems and Partial Differential Equations. Stanislavova has published in journals such as Nonlinearity, Studies in Applied Math, Physica D, Communications in Math Physics, SIAM Journal of Applied Math, Journal of Math Physics, ZAMP, Proc. Roy. Soc. Edinburgh A, Journal of Evolutions Equations etc. Her research has been continuously funded by NSF since 2004. Dr. Stanislavova's spouse will also join UAB as a full professor of mathematics.

Mount Mercy University has announced the appointment of Dr. Todd Olson as its 11th president. Dr. Olson will begin his duties as president on July 21, 2021. Since 2003, Dr. Todd Olson has served as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. A Minnesota native, Dr. Olson earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota-Morris and went on to receive his master’s degree in counseling psychology at the University of Kansas. He earned his PhD in higher education from the University of Denver, where he also worked in a variety of positions and was one of the founders of the Pioneer Leadership Program, a signature academic and residential learning program. Read more here.
