
The San Diego State University dean of the school of sciences search committee has appointed Dr. Jeffrey Roberts to the position. Prior to the appointment, Dr. Roberts was a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University. Dr. Roberts will begin his appointment on January 31, 2019.

Hope College has appointed Mr. Matthew A. Scogin as its new President. He will begin in the role on July 1, 2019, and replaces the current interim president, the Rev. Dr. Dennis N. Voskuil. Mr. Scogin is a truly remarkable non-traditional candidate. Currently, he serves as Chief Administrative Officer for Perella Weinberg Partners of New York. Prior to this, he served NYSE Euronext as Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff, Wachovia Bank as Vice President and Senior Advisor to the CEO, and the US Treasury Department as Senior Advisor for Domestic Finance. He serves on the Board of Trustees at Hope College where he earned a Bachelors in economics and political science. He received a Masters in public policy with concentration in economic policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In addition, Mr. Scogin serves the Lower Manhattan Community Church in NYC as Lay Pastor and CFO. The University of the District of Columbia Board of Trustees recently approved the appointment of Dr. Lawrence T. Potter, Jr., as UDC's Chief Academic Officer, effective February 1, 2019. Dr. Potter currently serves as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of La Verne. Prior to his work at the University of La Verne, he served as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Jackson State University. He has also held leadership positions at Allegheny College, the University of St. Thomas, and Western Michigan University. Dr. Potter earned a B.A. in English, Religion, and Philosophy from Stillman College, and he received an M.A. and Ph.D. in English - Literature and Criticism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Southern Connecticut State University has appointed Dr. Manohar Singh as the Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies. Dr. Manohar comes to SCSU from Humboldt State University, where he has served as Dean of the College of Professional Studies and Professor of Finance. Prior to his role at HSU, he served as Division Head for the Division of Business and Social Sciences at Penn State University Abington and Interim Chair of the Department of Finance at Long Island University. Dr. Singh is a proven fund raiser, with collaborations that have raised $10 million for an endowed R.N. to B.S.N. program. He has been active in AACSB accreditation activities, development of various graduate and other degree programs, and has over 40 published manuscripts in leading business journals. He received the 2011 Teaching Excellence Award at Penn State Grand Valley where he also served as Chair of the Faculty Senate. He will join SCSU on February 1, 2019.

Blackburn College has announced the appointment of Dr. Julie Murray-Jensen as its 17th President. Dr. Murray-Jensen will be on campus in Carlinville, Illinois, beginning January 14, 2019. Dr. Murray-Jensen is currently the Vice President of Enrollment and External Affairs and Executive Director of the KCC Foundation for Klamath Community College in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She has held previous positions with University of Virginia, Pacific University, University of Minnesota, University of Pittsburgh, University of Nebraska—Kearney, Bowling Green—Ohio, and the University of Nebraska—Lincoln. She earned her B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln in 1991. She received her Master’s degree in Education from Bowling Green—Ohio in 1994, and her Ed.D. from Oregon State University in 2018. Additional information is available here.

The University of New England has appointed Dr. Jennifer Audette as the new Program Director for its Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Dr. Audette, a Clinical Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Department at University of Rhode Island, is an active member of the APTA, Health Volunteers Overseas, and the World Confederation for Physical Therapy. She initiated the Broadening Experience at URI, which allows students to broaden their view of the profession of physical therapy locally, nationally and internationally through two-week non-clinical experiences. She has done physical therapy related work in China, Haiti, Suriname, and Guatemala. Dr. Audette earned a Ph.D. in Education from University of Rhode Island, an advanced Master's degree in physical therapy from Boston University and B.S. in physical therapy from Northeastern University.

The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education has unanimously selected Dr. Aaron Thompson as its fourth President. Dr. Thompson currently serves as the Council's Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer. He is the first Kentucky native and African-American to hold the position since the Council was formed 21 years ago.
