AGB SEARCH ANNOUNCES NEW VIDEO SERIES: “VOICES FROM THE ACADEMY”

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 5, 2020 – AGB Search, a national leader in higher education executive search, has launched “Voices from the Academy,” a new video series in which the firm talks with higher education leaders who are guiding their institutions through unprecedented change.

In describing the inspiration behind the video series, Rod McDavis, managing principal for AGB Search, said, “Higher education, like most sectors, has been presented with extraordinary challenges in 2020. But institution leaders have met these challenges head on, and many are executing initiatives that are transforming how campuses operate.”

The first video to be released features University of Minnesota President Joan Gabel, who has just completed her first year in office. Gabel discusses with AGB Search Executive Search Consultant Sally Mason the challenges and opportunities of completing a first-year presidency during significant world events, from the Black Lives Matter movement to ongoing management of the pandemic on campus.

“There have been real intersections in voice and advocacy as a result of those events [that] are incredibly challenging,” Gabel said during the interview. “They also create some unique opportunities. I think it’s important to think about that and how we can be better as a result.”

Gabel goes on to say, “I don’t think there has ever been a time where it’s been more obvious the role that universities play in society and how positive that role is.”

Each thirty-minute video will feature an interview between an AGB Search executive search consultant and a university or college president, provost or other leader who is taking innovative steps to guide his or her institution during times of uncertainty.
