Dr. Désirée H. Pointer Mace has been appointed as the new Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Professional Services (LAPS) at Alverno College effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Pointer Mace is a highly innovative, experienced educator with over 30 years of experience and has served as interim dean of LAPS since 2025. She also previously served as professor of education and director of graduate programs and has taught at Alverno College since 2007. In that time, she led professional development and educator preparation at the local, state, national, and international levels. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A in Education from the University of California at Berkeley, and a B.A. in Cognitive Science from Vassar College. Read more.
