President

Huston-Tillotson University announced that Melva K. Williams, Ph.D. has been appointed as the institution’s seventh President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 15, 2022.  Dr. Williams has held numerous positions within the Southern University System (LA), including Executive Associate to the Chancellor, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at SU-Shreveport, Vice Chancellor at SU-New Orleans, and System Chief of Staff.  A former associate dean of College at Centenary College of Louisiana, Williams has concurrently served as a professor, lecturer and board member at several colleges and universities. She earned a doctorate in higher education from Jackson State University (MS) and a master’s in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Grambling State University (LA). The Albizu University Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Dr. Nelson Edward Soto as the university’s sixth president. Dr. Soto came to Albizu University from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he served as the executive vice president for academic affairs and provost. Dr. Soto has served as faculty at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis in the School of Education; Indiana University, College of Arts and Sciences; the University of Missouri-Columbia, College of Education; and the University of Cincinnati, University College. Dean of the School of Science and Engineering

Benedict College has announced the appointment of Dr. Robert Garner as the new Dean of the School of Science and Engineering. He started on July 11, 2022. Dr. Garner comes to Benedict after 10 years at University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. At UIW, Dr. Garner served as Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and is credited for leading his department in acquiring certification from the American Chemical Society and the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from Jackson State College and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Ohio State University. The International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) has appointed Dr. Linda Kligman as its next President. Dr. Kligman joined the IIRP in 2010 and currently serves as Interim President. Previously she served as Vice President for Administration and Vice President for Advancement. Prior to the IIPR, she was the Executive Director of Jenkintown Community Alliance and Director of Educational Programs at The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University. Dr. Kligman earned a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Union Institute and University, an M.S. in Restorative Practices and a B.S. in both Appropriate Technology and Civil Engineering from Drexel University.

Emmanuel College has announced the appointment of Dr. Mary K. Boyd as its 13th President. Dr. Boyd previously served as Provost at Berry College, and as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of San Diego.

General Counsel

Point Park University has appointed Mr. Andrew Clayton Hughey, J.D., as the General Counsel for Point Park University. He will begin in his new role on August 8th, 2022. Mr. Hughey is currently serving as Vice President and General Counsel at Ohio Northern University. He received his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law and a BA in Rhetoric and Communications from The University of Pittsburgh. PPU’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is critically important, and Mr. Hughey will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience with him. Prior to his time at Ohio Northern, Andrew served as special assistant to the president for diversity and inclusion at the Community College of Allegheny County. While there, he managed an office that included the Title IX coordinator and a civil rights investigator. He also developed and executed programs promoting diversity and inclusion. He is a leader in the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), having completed in June 2019 a three-year term as Board Secretary and otherwise served NACUA in numerous ways over three decades.

 

Dean of the School of Management

Marist College has announced the appointment of Dr. Will Lamb as the new Dean of the School of Management. Dr. Lamb currently serves as Dean of Graduate and Adult Learner Recruitment for EAB, Inc., a provider of educational research, marketing, and consulting services to colleges and universities, where he helped colleges and universities improve the strength of their academic programs and grow their enrollments. He will begin July 1, 2022. Previously, Dr. Lamb served as Dean of the LaPenta School of Business for Iona College, Dean of the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business for Babson College, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs at Ohio University, as well as teaching positions at both Millsaps College and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Business from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a Master of Education in Instructional Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Virginia. Read more here.

Vice President of University Advancement

Point Park University has appointed Ms. Julie Cryser as the new Vice President of University Advancement. She began her duties at Point Park on May 31, 2022. She will oversee the offices of Alumni Engagement, Government Relations, Public Relations, and Grant Support. In addition, her division will coordinate the fundraising activities of Athletics, the Center for Media Innovation, the Pittsburgh Playhouse, as well as academic program fundraising in conjunction with the academic deans. Ms. Cryser joins the Point Park community from Pierpont Community & Technical College, where she was vice president for Institutional Advancement and foundation director. Prior to her time at Pierpoint, she spent time as president of the Fairmont State University Foundation and in several advancement and development roles at West Virginia University.

Vice President for Administration and Finance

Ms. Sarah Mouch has been appointed as the new Vice President for Administration and Finance at Blackburn College. She will begin her duties with Blackburn on August 15, 2022. Ms. Mouch is currently the Chief Financial Officer at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, a role she has held since 2018. At the Methodist Theological School, she oversaw the annual budget, an endowment of over $50 million, and worked extensively in the areas of compliance, retirement plans, insurance, and risk management. Ms. Mouch also has experience in the corporate world, including in the areas of banking and insurance. She has a BA in accounting from Lakeland University and an MBA from the University of Michigan-Flint. 

Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

Misericordia University has appointed John Woznicki, Ph.D., as the new Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He will officially begin his role at MU on July 5, 2022. Previously, Dr. Woznicki served as dean of Graduate and Professional Studies at Delaware Valley University, Doylestown, PA. Prior to that, he was the dean of the Heavin School of Arts and Sciences at Thomas Edison State University, Trenton, NJ. Dr. Woznicki has also served as provost and associate vice president of academic affairs at Union County College and head of the Division of Arts, Communications, and Humanities at Holy Family University, Philadelphia, PA where he was also a professor of English. He is also a literary critic who specializes in the poetry and culture of the 20th century and holds a Ph.D. in English from Lehigh University, a master's in English from the College of New Jersey, and a bachelor's in English from Worcester State University.
