The University of Minnesota Board of Regents appointed Joan T.A. Gabel as the University's 17th President by unanimous vote on the morning of December 18, 2018. She assumed the office on July 1, 2019.

Hope College has appointed Mr. Matthew A. Scogin as its new President. He will begin in the role on July 1, 2019, and replaces the current interim president, the Rev. Dr. Dennis N. Voskuil.  Mr. Scogin is a truly remarkable non-traditional candidate. Currently, he serves as Chief Administrative Officer for Perella Weinberg Partners of New York. Prior to this, he served NYSE Euronext as Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff, Wachovia Bank as Vice President and Senior Advisor to the CEO, and the US Treasury Department as Senior Advisor for Domestic Finance. He serves on the Board of Trustees at Hope College where he earned a Bachelors in economics and political science. He received a Masters in public policy with concentration in economic policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.  In addition, Mr. Scogin serves the Lower Manhattan Community Church in NYC as Lay Pastor and CFO. He is on the Board of Directors for Restore NYC (a Christian nonprofit dedicated to ending human trafficking in NYC), and, the SIFMA Foundation (a nonprofit dedicated to financial literacy and education).  To read more, please click on this link.

Blackburn College has announced the appointment of Dr. Julie Murray-Jensen as its 17th President. Dr. Murray-Jensen will be on campus in Carlinville, Illinois, beginning January 14, 2019. Dr. Murray-Jensen is currently the Vice President of Enrollment and External Affairs and Executive Director of the KCC Foundation for Klamath Community College in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She has held previous positions with University of Virginia, Pacific University, University of Minnesota, University of Pittsburgh, University of Nebraska—Kearney, Bowling Green—Ohio, and the University of Nebraska—Lincoln. She earned her B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln in 1991. She received her Master’s degree in Education from Bowling Green—Ohio in 1994, and her Ed.D. from Oregon State University in 2018.  Additional information is available here

The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education has unanimously selected Dr. Aaron Thompson as its fourth President. Dr. Thompson currently serves as the Council's Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer. He is the first Kentucky native and African-American to hold the position since the Council was formed 21 years ago.  For more information about the appointment, please see the announcement on the Kentucky CPE website by clicking here.

The Board of Trustees of the City Colleges of Chicago has appointed Dr. Shawn Jackson as the new President of Harry S Truman College. Dr. Jackson has served as Interim President of the College since 2017. Prior to coming to City Colleges, Dr. Jackson served as the Chief Officer of Leadership and Learning at the Chicago Public Schools. He holds a Ph.D. from Loyola University (Chicago), a M.A. from St. Xavier University, and a B.A. from Northeastern Illinois University.

The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education has named Dr. Alan LaFave as the next President of Valley City State University. Dr. LaFave currently serves as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

City University of New York Interim Chancellor Vita C. Rabinowitz has appointed Claudia V. Schrader president of Kingsborough Community College and made interim appointments for the top posts at Queensborough and Borough of Manhattan Community Colleges. Dr. Schrader is currently Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Success at Bronx Community College and previously served in senior positions at Medgar Evers College.

Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer

The South Dakota Board of Regents has appointed Paul B. Beran as the new executive director and chief executive officer. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Beran comes from the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith as the chancellor of the university. Dr. Beran assumes the position on or before September 4th.
