AGB Search is pleased to assist the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith (UAFS) in the search for the Department Head of Business in the College of Business and Industry. This position carries the title of Hill Williams Distinguished Chair of Business Administration, which includes a discretionary fund to support the advancement of academic programs, faculty, and students through research, student success initiatives, professional travel, and the organization of academic events such as seminars and conferences.
The College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the “global standard-setting body for business education, strengthening the world’s business schools through accreditation, thought leadership, and transformative learning.” The College earned this distinction in 2013 and joined a community of less than 6% of business programs worldwide. The business program successfully completed the most recent Continuous Improvement Review in 2024 and is scheduled for its next peer visit in 2029-30.
The College offers a concentration-based business curriculum with 13 professional pathways, including core, professional or public accounting, business economics, business interdisciplinary, corporate finance and investments, consumer and digital marketing, human resources, general management, small enterprise management, and supply chain management.
The Department Head reports to the Dean of the College of Business and Industry. This 12-month position combines faculty and administrative responsibilities. Administrative duties include leading and managing full-time and part-time business faculty, facilitating class scheduling, coordinating program assessment and AACSB accreditation, and engaging with advisory boards. Faculty responsibilities include teaching 15 hours of undergraduate business courses annually, maintaining an active research agenda, and sustaining engagement with business and industry leaders.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a business discipline currently represented in the College from an accredited institution, with a record of professional accomplishments and scholarship meeting the qualifications for appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor, and at least four years of teaching or business experience. Preferred qualifications include leadership experience, experience developing and implementing new curriculum, familiarity with the AACSB accreditation process, and experience with student recruitment and advising. The salary will be commensurate with education and experience with a minimum of $140,000 plus benefits.
