The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) invites nominations and applications for the position of
provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs. Reporting directly to the chancellor, the provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs serves as the chief academic officer of the institution and is charged with the overall leadership, management, and administration of all academic units. The provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs serves as a member of the chancellor’s senior leadership team and cabinet and functions as the chief executive officer of the university in the absence of the chancellor.
The university seeks a strategic and experienced leader with executive presence who is energized to maximize opportunities for continued growth and excellence at Wisconsin’s only public, urban university with a tripartite mission of research, access, and community engagement. The provost will demonstrate an authentic commitment to serving UWM’s dynamic mission, and to be a leader in the metropolitan Milwaukee region, which the university deems as an extension of UWM’s classroom.
UWM offers 202 degree programs with classes taught by faculty members who are recognized as worldwide experts in their fields. We’re also home to a large online education program, offering more than 600 classes and 54 fully online certificates and degree programs. In fact, U.S. News & World Report ranks UWM 24th nationally for its online bachelor’s degree programs.
