Columbus State Community College (CSCC) invites applications and nominations for the inaugural position of Dean of Mathematics, Natural & Social Sciences (MNSS). CSCC seeks a dynamic, student-first academic leader committed to student success, access, and academic excellence in an evolving higher education landscape. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and partnering closely with the President, the Executive Vice President, the President’s Cabinet, and leaders across the College, the Dean will guide the division’s strategic direction, serving thousands of students each term as they pursue their educational aspirations. As the academic leader of one of Columbus State’s crucial divisions, the Dean of Mathematics, Natural & Social Sciences plays an integral role in advancing the College’s mission, vision, values, commitments, and strategic pillars and shaping the academic future of Central Ohio.

The Dean will provide visible, strategic, and transformational leadership to shape an innovative future for the division, overseeing 139 faculty positions and 455 adjunct positions serving a diverse student body that is 45.6% first-generation, 39.3% students of color, and 80% attending debt free. The Dean will champion student success and career pathways, build a partnership-first culture, grow the program portfolio by aligning curriculum, assessment, transfer pathways, and workforce needs, lead the division through its emergence from the former arts and sciences structure, and strengthen resources and operational excellence. The most competitive candidates will have a strong record of leadership success; a minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited institution and at least five years of progressive leadership experience are required. A PhD and experience in higher education leadership are preferred, as is a degree in one of the division’s disciplines, experience leading a STEM-based department or departments, and teaching experience.

Founded in 1963, Columbus State Community College is Central Ohio’s front door to higher education, preparing more than 41,000 students each year for good jobs. Columbus State makes education accessible, affordable, and high-quality for students, whether they are recent high school graduates, adult learners, career changers, or transfer students, and generates a $1.8 billion annual economic impact for the region. The College offers associate degrees, certificate programs, and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing across its downtown Columbus campus, Delaware campus, Regional Learning Centers, and online. Franklin Hall is currently undergoing a $31.5 million renovation opening in January 2027 that will create new and improved classroom and lab facilities directly benefiting the division.
