President

The Board of Regents has selected outgoing New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas as Northern New Mexico College’s next president. Mr. Balderas served two terms as Attorney General of New Mexico, and previously served as a State Auditor, Special Prosecutor, and State Representative (District 68) in the New Mexico State Legislature.

The Missouri Valley College Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Joseph Parisi as the 14th President of MVC. Dr. Parisi will begin his transition duties as President Elect beginning in January 2023 and will assume the office of the presidency following the retirement of Dr. Bonnie Humphrey on June 30, 2023. Dr. Parisi is an MVC alum who currently serves as the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Athletics at Central Methodist University.  Prior to his tenure at Central Methodist, Dr. Parisi served in various admissions and enrollment management capacities, including Vice President for Enrollment Management at Lindenwood University. He holds an Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership and an MS in Business Administration, Nonprofit Administration from Lindenwood University, and a BS in Nonprofit Administration from Missouri Valley College. Senior Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has appointed Ms. Kelly Dowling as Senior Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement beginning January 17, 2023. Previously, Dowling served at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook as assistant vice president for advancement.

The California State University Board of Trustees has appointed Cynthia Teniente-Matson to serve as the next president of San José State University, effective January 16th, 2023. Dr. Teniente-Matson is currently serving as the President of Texas A&M - San Antonio. Her appointment as president of SJSU marks a return to the CSU for Teniente-Matson who previously served as vice president for administration and chief financial officer for California State University, Fresno from 2004 to 2015. Dr. Teniente-Matson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, an MBA from the University of Alaska Anchorage and is a product of the CSU having earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Fresno State. Chief Financial Officer

The UB Foundation Board has announced the appointment of Mr. Patrick Richey as the new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Richey currently serving as the Senior Vice President for Finance & Administration at Nazareth College of Rochester. He joins the senior leadership team led by recent AGB Search placement, CEO Stacy Knapper. Mr. Richey has over 30 years of progressive experience in senior leadership roles for higher education and government organizations as a Chief Financial Officer. Previously, Mr Richey worked as Vice President for Business and Finance/Treasurer at Canisius College in Buffalo, and as Vice President for Finance and Operations at Genesee Community College in Batavia, N.Y. In addition, he spent more than 15 years in local government management positions in several New York state municipalities. Mr. Richey holds a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University and a BA from LeMoyne College.

 

Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations

San Francisco State University has appointed Mr. Stefan Amrine as the new Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. He will begin his role on November 14, 2022. Mr. Amrine served first as a grant writer at Holy Names University, then for 5 years as their Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. Prior to that, he was a donor relations writer at Santa Clara University.  At Holy Names, Mr. Amrine averaged over $2 million per year in portfolio funding and was instrumental in procuring and administering a Department of Education Title III grant of $3 million.  He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master of arts in secondary education from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

 

Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs

The University of North Dakota has appointed Dr. Randi Tanglen as its next Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs. Dr. Tanglen will assume her new role on January 17, 2023. Dr. Tanglen currently serves as the Executive Director of Humanities Montana in Missoula. Prior to her work there, she was a faculty member at Austin College. She was promoted to the rank of full professor of English in 2019 and also served as the director of the gender studies program and as director of the Johnson Center for Faculty Development and Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Tanglen’s background in higher education teaching, leadership, faculty development and executive experience in operational and fiscal management provide her with the skills to support the academic departments and faculty members at UND. Dr. Tanglen earned her BA in English Education from Rocky Mountain College, MA in English from the University of Montana and PhD in English from the University of Arizona. Senior Director of Development, College of Science & Engineering

Ms. Holly Fincke has been appointed as the new Senior Director of Development, College of Science and Engineering, at San Francisco State University. She will begin her role on November 14th. Ms. Fincke currently serves as the Director of Development for the College of Science and the College of Education and Allied Studies at California State University East Bay, where she has worked for the past 5 years. Prior to that, she was the Associate Director of Annual Giving at the University of California Berkeley's School of Law.  At Cal State East Bay, Ms. Fincke increased giving from major donors in her portfolio by 900% in four years and was a key member of the team that achieved four of the five top fundraising years in CSUEB's history.  She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology/anthropology and women's studies from Oberlin College.

Texas State University System has appointed Sidney E. Valentine, Ph.D., as president of Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont. He will assume office August 16. Since 2015, Dr. Valentine has served as chief academic and student services officer at South Florida State College, where he provided academic leadership for the college’s transfer, vocational, technical, adult and community education, and workforce education programs. He also supervised the college’s applied research activities, grants, and institutional effectiveness efforts. Previously, Dr. Valentine served as associate vice president of industrial and engineering technology at York Technical College (SC) and as director of workforce and economic development at the West Virginia Community and Technical College System. He earned his master’s degree and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from The University of South Carolina and his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Director of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice

Arizona State University has appointed Dr. Beth Huebner, Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, to the role of Director of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, as well as the inaugural Watts Professor of Public Safety. Dr. Huebner will begin January 3, 2023. Dr. Huebner is recognized as a top scholar. Her principal research interests include the collateral consequences of incarceration, racial and gender disparities in the criminal justice system, and public policy. She serves as the current chair of the Division on Corrections and Sentencing for the American Society of Criminology. She is the editor for the Oxford Bibliographies in Criminology and is Associate Editor for Criminal Justice and Behavior. She earned her Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University.
