Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management

The University of Toledo has appointed Dr. David Meredith, Ph.D. as its Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management, effective 2/11/21.

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

The University of North Dakota has named Dr. Eric Link as the university's new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs effective July 1, 2021. Dr. Link currently serves as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Houston-Downtown, a public, comprehensive institution of more than 15,000 students. In his role as provost, Dr. Link has provided leadership for the academic affairs, student affairs, and enrollment management operations of the university. An award-winning teacher and scholar, he earned his Ph.D. in American Literature from Purdue University. Read more here.

Vice Dean for Research and Innovation

Arizona State University has announced the appointment of Dr. Sridhar Seetharaman as the Vice Dean for Research and Innovation in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.  Before joining ASU he served as the associate vice president for research and technology transfer at the Colorado School of Mines. Dr. Seetharaman received his doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his undergraduate degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. Read more here.

Commissioner of Education and President of the University of the State of New York

The Board of Regents of the New York State Education Department has appointed Dr. Betty A. Rosa as permanent Commissioner of Education and President of the University of the State of New York. Dr. Rosa has served as Interim Commissioner since August 2020. A nationally recognized education leader, Dr. Rosa will be the first Latina woman to serve in the position. She has more than thirty years of instructional and administrative experience, with expertise in inclusive education, cooperative teaching models, student achievement, and policy implementation. She received Ed.D. and M.Ed. degrees in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard University. Read more here.

Inaugural Vice President for Equity and Inclusion

Central Connecticut State University has concluded its search for the inaugural Vice President for Equity and Inclusion with the hiring of Dr. Stacey Miller. For the past five years, Dr. Miller served as Associate Provost for Inclusion and Retention at Valparaiso University in northwestern Indiana. As the chief diversity officer, she was responsible for the creation and implementation of the University’s strategic vision for diversity and inclusion and worked on a number of initiatives to strengthen the institutional climate and hiring practices.  Prior to her tenure at Valpo, Dr. Miller served as the director of residential life in the Student Affairs division at the University of Vermont (UVM), a position she held for 12 years. She also received her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from UVM and served there as a lecturer for the higher education and student affairs graduate program.  Dr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University.  Read more here.

President

Dr. Kathleen Plinske, executive vice president, provost and campus president of the Osceola, Lake Nona and Poinciana Campuses at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida, has been selected as the new president of Valencia College. The new president will begin her new role in the spring of 2021.  Dr. Plinske earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Physics with highest distinction from Indiana University, a Master of Arts in Spanish from Roosevelt University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida, and a Doctorate in Educational Technology from Pepperdine University. Read more here.

Executive Vice President of ASU's Knowledge Enterprise

Arizona State University has named Dr. Sally C. Morton as the new Executive Vice President of ASU's Knowledge Enterprise. She will begin her new post on February 1, 2021. Dr. Morton currently serves as Dean of the College of Science at Virginia Tech. She holds a bachelor's degree in mathematical sciences, a master's degree in operations research, and a doctoral degree in statistics, all from Stanford University, as well as a master's degree in statistics from the London School of Economics. Ms. Madeline Pumariega has been selected to become the fifth president of Miami Dade College. She is expected to assume office in early January, 2021. A Miami Dade College alum herself, Pumariega was appointed as the first female president of the college.

Senior Vice President and Provost

Kent State University has appointed Dr. Melody Tankersley as its new Senior VIce President and Provost, effective on November 1st, 2020.  An experienced leader, Dr. Tankersley has served Kent State in positions of increasing responsibility since 1993.  Dr. Tankersley is one of the nation’s leading scholars in her field of special education and is an accomplished administrator. Since being named interim senior vice president and provost in 2019, she has excelled in many areas, particularly in her handling of the many challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Tankersley earned her bachelor’s and master's degrees in special education from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina and her doctorate degree in special education from the University of Virginia. Read more here.

President and Chief Development Officer

The University of Alaska Foundation has named Dr. Tod A. Burnett as president of the University of Alaska Foundation and chief development officer of the University of Alaska. Dr. Burnett, previously the executive vice chancellor for advancement at Brandman University, Irvine, CA, has extensive experience in higher education philanthropy and non-profit leadership.  He will begin his presidency on November 8, 2020.  Dr. Burnett has extensive private business experience, has served on a number of public and private boards and commissions and has been recognized by more than 75 public officials and organizations for his contributions to community and social causes. Dr. Burnett earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of California, Riverside, a master’s degree in management/finance from University of Southern California and a doctorate in education and psychology from Pepperdine University. Read more here.
